Spongepots
The Spongepot is a germination kit with a soil improver consisting of a mix of useful soil bacteria and fungi that promote the growth of a healthy root system. Cultivated seeds are easy to re-pot because the mix of peat and coconut prevents the sponges from falling apart so that the roots will not be damaged, and the seedlings will root much faster and better.
The Spongepot is easy to use: Dissolve the supplied Bacto in 1 liter of lukewarm water. Then place the Spongepot in a greenhouse with perlite on the bottom and pour the Bacto solution over the Spongepot so that it can absorb itself, make sure that the bottom layer contains a small layer of water at the bottom but that it is certainly lower than the surface of the perlite. Otherwise, the Spongepot will overflow with water which is not beneficial.
Watering with Bacto creates an optimal moisture/air ratio in the Spongepot. By keeping the bottom layer sufficiently moist, the Spongepot will also remain moist. The moisture in the bottom layer also ensures high humidity in the greenhouse. Check the Spongepots once in a while to see if the liquid level in the perlite is high enough.
Place the seeds in holes about 3 to 5mm deep. Which side of the seed is above or below is not that important. Most seeds take a few days to germinate. During this time try to leave the seeds alone and do not open the Spongepots to watch the seedlings. The root will appear first and fast after this the seedling will appear. The empty shell should fall off by itself. Pulling this off can damage the seedling.
